Google Reader Comes to the Apple iPad
If you have been using the Google Reader for your RSS feeds and news bits, then Google has some interesting news for you. The new iPad-friendly Google Reader “Play” is already available to try out on Google Labs.
For those who are not familiar with Labs, this is where Google brings out its new apps and web services for the public to try out. As part of the labs features, new users are told beforehand that these features are still works in progress and may have bugs or problems and that in order to improve the apps, errors should be reported to Google Labs.
Anyway, back to the Google Reader Play, this new feed reader will deliver not only chunks of text news, but will also play embedded media such as videos and audio. The initial screenshots of the system shows a very impressive user interface that would look great on the full screen of the iPad touch screen tablet.
Of course, the targets of Reader Play are not the usual RSS subscribers who prefer to have walls of text on their screen (because that loads faster and it is easier to see plenty of info in a single page), instead the Google Reader Play is made for iPhone/iPod Touch users who are used to having fancy user interfaces and of course, integrated media content.
As stated above, the Reader Play is still in its testing stages. While you can already download it to try it out, expect to see changes to the app when it officially comes out for the iPad.
The Apple iPad is expected to be released in the UK by late April. Buyers will have a choice of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions of the device.
